At the same time they voted to authorize a strike against the 

 three chains, should the union’s leader ship determine that is necessary. UFCW Local 7 represents 17,000 members at Safeway and Kroger owned stores in Colorado.                           Negotiations are continuing on be half of union members at Albertsons stores in the state. “our Safeway members want livable wages and secure pensions,” a spokes person for UFCW Local 7 said, “and workers at King Soopers and City Market are seeking a contract that doesn't include cuts to their wages, pension and health care.”

 flaws in Merced report   Opponents of a Wal-Mart  distribution center in Merced said    they found flaws in an environmental report and will ask a court to require that more is done to reduce pollution from diesel trucks that enter and   leave the center. The Merced City Council recently voted to approve   the project against strong opposition from the Merced Alliance for responsible growth.
